Doctor James Lent is on the Principal Music Faculty at AMDA as Manager of Staff Pianist, Musical Director,  Vocal Coach, and Teacher, where he has been on the faculty since 2011.  He is a Lecturer in Music and Program Manager of Staff Pianoist as well as  Head of Collaborative Piano at the UCLA School of Music. He has musical directed numerous productions, including Little Shop of Horrors, Urinetown, Andrew Lippa’s The Wild Party, Spelling Bee, A My Name is Alice, Zanna Don’t,  The Great Trailer Park Musical, Fame, and Toonsical. He was recently featured on ABC’s Wonderful World of Disney Xmas Special performing with Liz Giles and Seth MacFarlane, musical directed Chess and A Chorus Line for Jaxx Productions , which earned him a StageScene an award for musical direction, and was the musical director for Spamilton with Center Theatre Group.  

 

He is an active piano teacher and vocal coach (classical, musical theater, pop, country, opera, jazz) and musical director in Los Angeles, and is certified in Andrew Byrne’s Singing Athlete Method.
